When things don’t operate as they should, it can cause a bit of frustration and shuffling around. One Disney World restaurant is not open this morning.
Unexpected Closures
It is not uncommon for an attraction to experience a lot of downtime throughout the course of the day. Sometimes it’s a technical issue that needs resolved or the weather is forcing rides to close. We frequently see bad weather close almost all the outdoor attractions at all four theme parks.
A bit more uncommon is the closure of restaurants. Many times when a dining location is closed it is because it is a planned refurbishment. However, the unexpected even occurs at The Most Magical Place on Earth.
One restaurant is unexpectedly closed this morning.
Closed
Our own Kenny the Pirate headed over to the Contemporary Resort for some breakfast. The Contemporary offers plenty of dining options that are sure to please every palate.
Table-service restaurants include Chef Mickey’s, Steakhouse 71, and California Grill (which offers a fireworks viewing party). There is one quick-service spot called Contempo Cafe. Clicking any of those links will take you to our reviews!
My personal favorite is Steakhouse 71. Our team has had excellent experiences for breakfast and lunch as well as the lounge. Unfortunately, Kenny found out the hard way that Steakhouse 71 is closed this morning, August 2.
Staff told him the closure is due to “some kitchen failures”, and they even offered to help him book another location. We are unsure if these issues will be resolved in time for a later breakfast or lunch/dinner.
Nearby Dining
If this ever happens to you, you may want to know which nearby locations are available. Of course, Chef Mickey’s is right in the same building! A quick ride away on the Monorail will also take you to the Polynesian where you can enjoy ‘Ohana or Kona Cafe.
On the next stop is the Grand Floridian where we recommend a lovely breakfast at the Grand Floridian Cafe. If the staff is able to help you get breakfast in the Magic Kingdom (and if you have a valid park ticket), try Cinderella’s Royal Table or Crystal Palace.
If you would rather take a boat, Wilderness Lodge has a yummy breakfast called Whispering Canyon Cafe.
