Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace is one of the most sought-after dining reservations at Disney World. And, for good reason! We love the characters and food. We have some good and bad updates to share with you.

I have written extensively about my love of Riviera Resort and its food. Here’s a quick rundown if you are interested. Click on any of the links below!

I could eat everything at Riviera, but my absolute favorite food can be found at Topolino’s Terrace. In the morning, greet your favorite friends and feast on the incredible Sour Cream Waffles. At night prepare to be transported to a signature dining experience straight from the French Riviera. If you time your reservation just right, you can also see Harmonious fireworks from Epcot.

Let’s discuss the loophole

At many of these restaurants that offer a prix fixe menu, you can usually order more than what is offered. Oftentimes, servers are not very strict on how many sides or entrees you order. For example, you could order a quiche with a “side” of steak (which is not actually a side but an entree without the egg).

However, Topolino’s Terrace cracked down on this “loophole” earlier this year by not allowing Guests to order more than one true entree off the menu. That meant no more mixing waffles and steak or ordering part of an entree as a side.

However, on a recent visit I was surprised to see the restaurant compromised. I had a fantastic server, and one of the things he told me was guests can actually choose a side of waffles (regular Mickey/Minnie or one sour cream) or eggs with the entree.

While we still cannot order two full entrees, I thought this was nice of them to offer the sour cream waffle as a “side”! These sour cream waffles are heavenly, and sometimes I just don’t want to choose between steak and waffles. I also really appreciated that he was very clear at the beginning setting expectations.

The steak AND potatoes changed

Speaking of the steak, the steak entree also changed. Now, it is a bit smaller and actually a different cut than what we have received in the past.

While many “untrained” eyes will not notice a difference, those who are frequent diners of Topolino’s Terrace may notice. However, it is not really a big change and it is still as tender and flavorful as always!

The potatoes also changed – for the better! In the quiche photo above, you can see they are smaller cuts. In the steak photo, you can see they are whole potatoes. They are seasoned differently now and MUCH more flavorful. It is hard for me to love restaurant potatoes, but these were really good!

Brûlée Dish

Finally, we need to talk about the brûlée. It is the least loved dish at Topolino’s. My server strongly advised against ordering it. He explains it is overly sweet, and unless bread pudding is your “thing” and you absolutely love all kinds of bread pudding, don’t bother. There are so many better options (ahem, sour cream waffles).

It used to be called French Toast Brûlée, but it is now called Bread Pudding Brûlée. It is still the SAME exact dish just with a different name. The server mentioned it was never a French Toast, and that is why so many people were confused when ordering it. They changed the name to be more accurate, but it is still the same dish.

So, the good news is the name is more accurate. The bad news it’s still a horrible dish.

What do you think of these changes? They are kind of a mixed bag, aren’t they? Let us know in the comments below and share this post with a friend who loves Topolino’s Terrace.
