Every Disney theme park has great dining options to enjoy. Disney’s Hollywood Studios has quickly become home to many great dining locations over the years, however, they can’t all be winners. The WORST Restaurants in Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The food in Hollywood Studios for many years was lackluster at best but has made a huge comeback due to many of the expansion projects over the years. While there are so many excellent options in the park, there are always outliers in every group.

With so many dining options available to guests in Hollywood Studios, we want you to know which restaurants Disney fans think are hits and which ones are misses so that you can make an informed decision when planning your next magical getaway. To see who made the worst restaurant list in the other parks click on the links below:

We chose the top two restaurants voted in both the Quick Service and Table Service categories and compiled them into the overall list below. Continue on to see who the big “winners” were!

#4. ABC Commissary

Surprisingly, the ABC Commissary has made the list of worst restaurants. Especially, when not long ago, many of our readers voted it onto the “best of the best” list. While ABC Commissary can hold a lot of people and offers a more elevated menu than in years past, it doesn’t have that much going for it as far as a theme when you compare it to other locations in Hollywood Studios. 

There’s also the factor of food quality. No matter how unique the menu might be, if the execution of the dishes is starting to become lackluster it is going to fall toward the bottom of the list for guests.

ABC Commissary is one of those places that each guest has to evaluate individually. If something on the menu looks amazing, perhaps consider giving it a try, but many fans agree that there are better places in the park to try.

#3. PizzeRizzo

It’s no surprise that PizzeRizzo makes it onto our worst restaurant list. The menu is lacking in diversity and unless you like the small round puffy pizzas that Disney quick service is infamous for, this is an easily skipped location.

Personally, I (Christina) don’t mind the puffy pizzas. I realize that is an unpopular opinion, but they hold so much nostalgia for me. As a kid, it was a good day if we stopped at a quick service location to get a puffy pizza or even those Mickey-shaped pizzas of old.

The key is to keep the expectations low. Are these fabulous pizzas? No. Are there way better food items around Hollywood Studios? Absolutely. All those things considered, the pizzas aren’t horrible tasting and can easily be shared. They will also please picky eaters who may find other dining locations around the park too adventurous. 

Some can even get past the average quality of the pizzas but don’t like the restaurant theming. Those that enjoy the nostalgia of the puffy pizza will remember the days when PizzeRizzo was Pizza Planet. 

Pizza Planet’s theming was far superior to PizzeRizzo. While we love the punny humor of the Muppets, Pizza Planet was full of fun arcade games. The kids could burn off some energy playing games and mom and dad could get a nice break to get off their feet. 

It also made you feel like you were stepping into the famous restaurant in Toy Story. While I feel like there was way more potential for the Pizza Planet restaurant, it was still a better theme overall. Given the location of the restaurant, however, the Muppets theme fits in better with the surrounding area. 

#2 Hollywood and Vine

Coming in second place is Hollywood and Vine. The pandemic affected this restaurant’s menu quite a bit over the last several years. During the restrictions, the menu has changed numerous times from buffet-style to table-style and then back again to buffet-style.

With all those changes, some dishes have come and gone and many find that the quality of those dishes is lackluster. The other negative of the restaurant is that it is very large and cafeteria-like. There are not a lot of soft furnishings, which makes it an extremely loud environment.

Couple that with it being a character meal and attracting families with small children – it can sometimes feel a bit chaotic. In addition to the restaurant being so big, it can take quite a while for the characters to come to your table and most character interactions were socially distant encounters for a long period of time.

The price of this restaurant is also a major deterrent when you consider the quality of food, atmosphere and noise level. Most guests who visit find it an unpleasant experience and prefer to meet the Fab 5 somewhere else. 

#1. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano

The worst restaurant in Disney’s Hollywood Studios according to our readers is Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. This is not surprising to many. What was surprising was that it was once voted on our best restaurant list. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano goes through waves of ups and down. It appears to be hitting one of its low peaks at the moment.

The menu at Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano is actually quite diverse, but the issue often comes with the execution of the dishes. They are often not cooked properly or lack flavor. Another thing that is constantly a complaint from many who have voted Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano onto the worst list is that the service isn’t good. 

Disney prides itself on its customer service so it is surprising that this continues to be a common issue. On one of our last visits to Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, our server heckled one of our family members for arriving late and then never brought the check. We had to ask another server to locate him so we could pay and leave. 

The interior of the restaurant is quite beautiful and there is so much potential for Mama Melrose to be better. We hope one day to see it bounce back again!
