Blizzard Beach Water Park
Blizzard Beach theming brings guests to the remnants of a ski resort that was hastily built during a freak snowstorm in Central Florida. Afterwards, everything melted when the weather went back to normal.
However, the fun is left for water park goers! The chairlift fits into the theming perfectly, and saves walking up and down flights of stairs repeatedly. Plus, it’s an attraction on its own!
Typhoon Lagoon
Typhoon Lagoon has a cool beach vibe. Here, guests enjoy a tropical paradise hit by a typhoon. The theme is well executed and will make you feel like you’re spending the day at the beach! Also, Typhoon Lagoon has one of the largest surf pools in the world. You can even take surfing lessons here!

Guests are immersed in dazzling 50th anniversary celebration decorations and magical touches throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. In addition, Disney teams created shimmering decor that sparkles all day and night.
Cast Members
From Disney’s Water Parks to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and across the Disney Resort, cast members are the heart of this once-in-a-lifetime celebration. They’re eager to share a little bit of their world with you during this special time.
A major part of guests’ magical experiences begin with the royal treatment Cast Members deliver to guests. If you want to thank a Cast Member, read here.
Now, Disney World Cast Members all receive a new name tag for the 50th Celebration to honor their service and dedication. The transformation of these new name tags took more than a little pixie dust.
Brett Owens, graphic designer with Disney Live Entertainment, and a team of fellow designers worked diligently to create this unique design.
Tasty Water Park Treats
There are also delicious new 50th anniversary menu items at Walt Disney World Resort. I (Susan) love that many inspired by Walt’s favorite dishes. At Disney’s Water Parks, 50th treats are available at several locations:
Avalunch at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park (and Snack Shack at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park when reopened)
- Loaded Nachos with Walt’s Chili – This classic treat is upgraded for the 50th anniversary celebration. It features Walt’s favorite chili on top of a bed of house fried tortillas, cheese guacamole, shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, sour cream and jalapeños.
I.C. Expeditions at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park (and Happy Landings at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park when reopened)
- EARidescent Ice Dream Cone – Birthday cake-flavored soft serve ice cream cone served up with EARidescent accents to celebrate 50 years of Walt’s dreams that turned into reality.
Collectible Merchandise
Then, at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, guests delight in a new version of Disney’s refillable mugs. It features a giant 50 design for the celebration! The mug design also includes creative art.
Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck with Goofy skiing in the background make this mug a keeper!
It’s available at different locations, including Beach Haus, Lotta Wotta Lodge and Cooling Hut.
At Typhoon Lagoon, special 50th mugs will be available at Singapore Sal’s and High and Dry. The fact that Disney keeps mentioning Typhoon Lagoon gives us hope it will reopen soon!
runDisney
The magic is also calling all runners to become part of the fun at runDisney events during The World’s Most Magical Celebration. For runDisney 2022 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, January 5-9, 2022, participants will run through the magic and stories of Walt Disney World Resort.
And they’ll have the opportunity for amazing 50th anniversary celebration views during runs near breathtaking Beacons of Magic!
2022 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is held January 5-9, 2022.
Mickey Mouse and other favorite characters will be wearing their shimmering EARidsecent best during the race weekend as well. Marathon Weekend will feature amazing entertainment and unique commemorative finisher medals glowing with EARidesence.
Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend
Also, during the Walt Disney World Resort 50th anniversary celebration, the 2022 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend will have participants running into the magic on February 24-27, 2022. This event features events for all skill levels, coveted regal medals inspired by the 50th anniversary celebration, special merchandise, celebratory treats and other surprises.
