Major Disruption Affects This Disney Cruise Line Sailing
The unexpected happened as guests hoped to set sail aboard the Disney Fantasy. Here is what we know so far.
Disney Technical Difficulties
Many guests joke that the "Disney Bubble" allows guests to have a magical vacation without concern for the elements, but unfortunately, that is not the case.
At times, Disney will issue a refund to guests when their trip is severely impacted due to inclement weather. Other times, guests may be affected by technical difficulties with their favorite attractions.

Disney Fantasy Delay
In the past, the Disney Cruise Line has suffered from flooding, sewage issues, and even medical evacuations. However, on Thursday, May 1st, the Disney Fantasy failed to even make it out of Port Canaveral.
As guests joined Mickey Mouse and his pals for the Sail Away party, they failed to actually sail away. The Disney Fantasy was set for a 3-night Bahamian Cruise, but found itself docked at Port Canaveral. Guests onboard shared that they did not depart until 12:30 am on May 2nd due to a mechanical issue.
This was not the magical start to a vacation that many guests were hoping for. One reader shared that the Disney Fantasy did not pass a Coast Guard inspection due to an issue with the sprinkler system. After this sailing, the Disney Fantasy begins a 13-night Eastbound Transatlantic Cruise on May 4th.
Does Disney Issue Refunds?
At this time, it is unclear if this will affect the itinerary for the remainder of this sailing. It will be interesting to see if guests receive a refund, onboard credit, or a discount for future sailings due to this delay.
Disney Fantasy was delayed at Port Canaveral due to a mechanical issue on May 1, 2025.
The Disney Fantasy set sail on its maiden voyage in March 2012. Disney will soon bring some much-needed updates to this ship. We hope that the remainder of this Disney Fantasy sailing goes smoothly for these cruisers.
