Disney Treasure Transatlantic Journey
About two weeks ago, the Disney Treasure began its transatlantic journey from Eemshaven, Netherlands to Port Canaveral, Florida.
During this voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, the ship will finish its final preparations before its maiden voyage. The maiden voyage is a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise from Port Canaveral, Florida, on December 21, 2024.
The Treasure crew members were put to the test on this first voyage as they were called to use their training to perform a water rescue.
Rescue
On Sunday, November 10th, the Disney Treasure rescued four people from a sinking catamaran. The catamaran was approximately 230 miles off the coast of Bermuda when a gasket failure occurred and the catamaran started to take on water.
The passengers called for help, and the Coast Guard issued a broadcast. The Disney Treasure responded as it was approximately 80 miles away. A small boat was launched from the Treasure and all four passengers were rescued. Thankfully everyone was safe and no medical issues were reported.
“We are pleased that the Disney Treasure was able to provide aid to the boat passengers in peril. Our crew members worked together on the rescue, skillfully demonstrating their training and commitment to safety.”
-Disney Treasure Captain Marco Nogara in a statement to ABC News.
