Disney World Shortens Park Hours and Reintroduces Virtual Queues
This may be the worst week to visit Walt Disney World this fall. Find out which dates Theme Parks will offer late openings, early closings, and reinstate the dreaded virtual queue.
Hollywood Studios Closing Early

We follow along with Walt Disney World park hours on a regular basis. Most of the time, they stay pretty standard, with a few exceptions based on higher crowd levels.
As we move into the fall, Magic Kingdom closes early on several nights for both Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
Disney's Hollywood Studios will also close early next Tuesday, October 20, 2026, for a private event.
EPCOT Opening Late

October is a busy month at Walt Disney World and will also include the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend. This race weekend consists of a 5K on Friday, October 23rd; a 10K on Saturday, October 24th; and a half marathon on Sunday, October 25th.
Both the 5k race on Friday, October 23rd, and the half-marathon course on Sunday, October 25th, affect the opening of EPCOT. Typically, EPCOT opens for Early Entry for Resort Guests at 8:30 am and for all Guests at 9:00 am.
On October 23rd and October 25, 2026, EPCOT will open a full hour later. Early Entry will begin at 9:30 am, and all Guests may enter at 10:00 am. Along with opening later, several other factors may cause you to rethink visiting EPCOT on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
Disney World Virtual Queue

Over the years, Disney has made several adjustments to the Virtual Queue system. Although no attractions currently offer a Virtual Queue, the Virtual Queue remains on the My Disney Experience app.
For example, a Virtual Queue will be activated tomorrow, October 16, 2026, for Disney Springs. The Virtual Queue will be activated once for the first day of the runDisney Wine & Dine Half-Marathon Weekend.
On October 22, 2026, a Virtual Queue will be open at 7:00 am and 1:00 pm.
Guests can join the Virtual Queue for the runDisney Expo on October 22, 2026, through the My Disney Experience app at 7:00 am and 1:00 pm. It is important to note that you must be no further than approximately 45 miles away from Walt Disney World Resort to join this Virtual Queue.

After clicking "Join Virtual Queue", you can select your shopping party (up to 6 Guests). Once your Virtual Queue is confirmed, you will receive a push notification to let you know when your Boarding Group is called.
When you arrive at the Expo, you can check in using your MagicBand+, Disney MagicMobile pass, or by showing your digital code from your Virtual Queue.
