The wait is finally over! We finally have the official opening date of the Journey of Water Moana attraction and a special meet and greet coming!
Journey of Water Moana Attraction
Part of EPCOT’s reimagining includes a Moana-themed walk-through attraction called Journey of Water. This immersive exploration trail will be in the heart of EPCOT’s World Nature neighborhood.
This new attraction will serve as a huge feature in this area of the park dedicated to “understanding and preserving the beauty, awe, and balance of the natural world.”
Guests have an option to “Make a splash…or stay dry!” “You can choose to get wet—or take the dry path instead—as you explore this whimsical, watery world.”
Previews for Select Guests
Cast Members were the first group to enjoy previews of Journey of Water Inspired by Moana. These previews began on September 1 and run through September 22, 2023.
Then, today, Disney announced that Annual Passholders will get in on the fun! That’s right! Disney World Annual Passholder previews will take place from September 24 to 29 and October 1 to 4. Take a look at the details on how you can experience the preview HERE.
Opening Date Announced
In March, we announced HERE that the majority of the Disney100 celebration would happen at EPCOT. EPCOT begins celebrating on September 15 and we were hoping the Moana attraction would also open at that time.
However, that isn’t the case. At todays D23 event, Josh D’Amaro announced that Moana Journey of Water attraction officially opens on October 16.

Surprise Meet
Previously, Moana began meeting guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Now, we are thrilled that Disney is bringing a dedicated meet and greet area at the Journey of Water attraction when it opens too!

Other EPCOT announcements made today include the New Nighttime Spectacular, the date of the Figment meet and greet, and opening timeline for the World of Celebration.

I have the same question - trying to plan a late October visit and we were really only going to animal kingdom for Moana. If she's not going to be there she will only be at Epcot then we may be changing our park reservations. Any answers on this?

Disney hasn't announced that she is leaving, but it seems unlikely that she will be at two parks.

I wonder if this means that she’s leaving Animal Kingdom to move over to Epcot or they’re just gonna have two Moana meet and greets at Disney World.
