Disney's Old Key West is the original Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort. The resort opened on October 1, 1991, and was renamed Old Key West in January of 1996.

Old Key West resort boasts the largest DVC rooms on property. The accommodations are spacious, comfortable, cheerful, and perfect for bigger families or longer stays.

Old Key West is located in the Disney Springs resort area. When it comes to the four Disney theme parks, it is closest to EPCOT.

Many Walt Disney World Resorts have been undergoing refurbishment lately. From restaurants to villas and everything in between, there's a lot of construction and remodeling happening.

Disney does try to update guests on upcoming refurbishments and closures in advance when possible.

One aspect of this refurbishment affected the Sassagoula River Cruise that offers free boat transportation to Disney Springs. This was unavailable to Disney's Old Key West Guests starting July 20 through early August 2026.

Unfortunately, this planned refurbishment was not the only one to affect this perk for Diseny's Old Key West Resort Guests. Another refurbishment began on the river wall, closing this perk from October 12, 2026, until this week.

Thankfully, the Sassagoula River Cruise is now operating at Disney's Old Key West again. We really hope all refurbishment work is finally complete.

While the Sassagoula River Cruise was closed, Disney's Old Key West offered complimentary bus transportation to and from Disney Springs
