You are missing out if you don’t check out this resort during the spring season!
Seasonal Resorts at Walt Disney World
While all of the resorts in the Walt Disney World Resorts Collection provide something special for guests, some resorts are just better fits at various times in the year. We’ve previously covered the topics of identifying the best resorts for each season and even focused on the best resort for the Christmas holiday season. Now, let’s look at spring!
Springtime is a great time to visit Walt Disney World. With EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival in full bloom, flowers all over property, and exceptional weather, Spring Break season is a great time to visit Disney. The weather is great and there are even many fun holiday activities surrounding the Easter season.
If you are looking for the perfect resort to visit in the spring, however, look no further than Disney World’s own crown jewel: The Grand Floridian.
The Grand Floridian: Spring’s Best Resort
As one of the most luxurious resorts on property, the Grand Floridian is always a sight to behold, but it is especially so in the springtime. This resort already wins the battle in my (Jaelyn) mind for best luxury resort on property, easily defeating the much newer Riviera Resort for those looking for a deluxe experience.
With beautiful grounds and outdoor activities that are perfect to enjoy in the springtime weather, easy monorail access to the best parks for springtime experiences, a full blown Easter celebration that cannot be matched anywhere else on property, and an overall “springtime vibe”, the Grand Floridian is an easy win for best spring resort. Read on to find out more!
Beautiful Grounds and Exceptional Weather
If you’ve ever visited the Grand Floridian Resort, you know that the property grounds are absolutely stunning. From the stunning lobby space to the exquisite dining offered on property, the full-service spa, pools and splash pad spaces themed after Alice in Wonderland, poolside cabanas, Movies Under the Stars, motorized boat rentals for cruises around the Seven Seas lagoon, fishing, basketball courts, and other outdoor recreation activities, there is certainly something for everyone to enjoy at the Grand Floridian.
Many of these great activities and amenities are located outside. Springtime is truly the best time to enjoy these amenities, as later months in the year often bring about uncomfortably hot temperatures and several consecutive days of afternoon thunderstorms.
In the spring, guests can plan to enjoy the beautiful grounds of the Grand Floridian in comfortable temperatures without worrying too much about frequent disruptions due to storms and other weather related concerns.
Access to the Best Springtime Activities
One of the best parts of staying at the Grand Floridian is the convenience of access to some of the greatest springtime activities offered in the parks! Disney World hosts many exciting spring events including EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival with its Garden Rocks concert series and delicious food booths and beautiful topiaries. You can also find Easter-themed events like Magic Kingdom’s special parade and Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny meet and greets.
The Grand Floridian is on the monorail, making it an excellent choice for easy and convenient access to these two parks. The Magic Kingdom is the very next stop off of the monorail from the Grand Floridian and also is accessible via walking path or boat. EPCOT is a monorail ride away with a transfer at the Transportation and Ticket Center.
This prime location to two of the top springtime parks pushes the Grand Floridian ahead of some other popular springtime resorts like Beach Club!
Easter Celebrations and More
Personally, one of my favorite parts of visiting the Grand Floridian in the spring is the Easter Egg display and the Grand Cottage found in the lobby of the resort. The egg displays offer unique takes and celebrations of classic Disney films, characters, attractions, and Imagineers. I could spend hours walking through the displays and admiring the handiwork and craftsmanship that clearly goes into making each individual egg. This is a fun activity for children and adults alike! My children love to find their favorite characters and rides in the eggs!
Another great addition to the Grand Floridian in the spring is the addition of the Grand Cottage located in the main lobby. This space sells various seasonal snacks for guests to enjoy. Last year I had the chance to try the carrot cake and a chocolate bunny and loved both of them!
This is a great and much appreciated addition to the lobby space in the spring at the Grand Floridian! On our spring break trip just last month, we noticed several guests spending time enjoying treats from the cottage, checking out the displays, and just relaxing in the lobby for long amounts of time!
Overall Vibe
Ultimately, the overall vibe of a resort is subjective, yet it is clear that the vibe of the Grand Floridian matches the springtime spirit. From the floral and pastel theming and colors in the various guest rooms to the flowers in bloom all around the property, the Grand Floridian is fresh, bright, and places guests in the springtime state of mind.
While this might not have always been true, new renovations and changes to the property have truly elevated the space to be fresh and “less stuffy” than it was in the past. Though some may disagree with me, I believe the new spaces and rooms like the resort studios are a welcomed upgrade to the Grand Floridian and further elevate it as the best springtime resort on property (and possibly one of the best resorts on property overall)!
While I truly believe the Grand Floridian is the best springtime resort, you might completely disagree! What is your favorite place to stay or visit for the spring season?
