‘Ohana

Located at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, ‘Ohana is one of the most popular restaurants on property. From the characters and location to the food and atmosphere, this restaurant books up quickly.

‘Ohana has been at the forefront of a lot of Disney news lately. First, came the reopening plans and then the fact that the noodles were gone from the menu! Thankfully, after some fan outrage, Disney added them back.

Then, once the restaurant actually reopened, many (us included) were impressed with the shrimp casserole and other menu offerings. Disney has continued to listen to us, and the old menu is back.

Once again, ‘Ohana is causing a stir. This time for guests inside the restaurant!

We have an awesome Kenny the Pirate Crew group on Facebook. Members love to share advice and review, ask questions, and post funny memes. One crew member also shared a few videos of ‘Ohana being evacuated.

In the videos, which were taken around 11 am on August 24, you can hear the fire alarms and see the Guests exiting the restaurant.

Those dining in ‘Ohana headed down the stairs right across from the restaurant and made their way outside. We are going to assume here that since Kona Cafe is next door, they were evacuated as well. In fact, it’s almost guaranteed that the entire Polynesian Resort lobby was evacuated.

This would include Capt Cook’s, the lobby shops, and Bell Services.

Reasoning

There could be several reasons for the evacuation at the Polynesian. First, it could have been an accident pull of the fire alarm trigger. This would be the opposite of what is happening at Living with the Land. It is currently on day four of not operating due to mechanical issues with the fire alarm.

Second, there is a lot of construction happening around the main building at the Polynesian. Work on the monorail is still being completed as well as other work in that general area. It’s possible something occurred there and the alarm was pulled.

Whatever the reasoning, it does not appear to be a serious issue. Our KtP Crew member reported that they were let back in after about 15 minutes. Hopefully they received some fresh food for the trouble!

This right here! I was thinking the same thing.

I agree with Ian. We are seeing many issues that you rarely used to see. Resorts with evacuations, rides evacuated, the Skyliner crashes, you see something almost everyday. Previously you rarely saw problems. It makes me nervous to go to resorts, parks and especially taking my family on rides. What is going on? WDW was always very safe! What happened?

I think that they evacuated everyone because they forgot to raise prices for the day. the meals probably cost "a little bit more" when the patrons returned. The Disney battle cry.

It all sounds like cost cutting. There has been numerous evacs. Animatronics fail. Rides close. Skyliner crashes and we are asked to pay more. Forget the cash grab. This is getting dangerous
