For months there were rumors that big changes may be coming to Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom.

Many have speculated that Space Mountain is in need of a whole track replacement similar to Big thunder Mountain Railroad.

While other rumors swirl that this be a retheme similar to what we saw at Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets? Maybe this could be a combination of a new track along with a new theme in the attraction and in the queue for this attraction.

Space Mountain Earthrise

A few days ago, we shared that Tokyo Disneyland's Space Mountain will receive a brand new name and new theme when it opens in 2027.

"Earthrise" refers to the sight of Earth from space as it rises from beyond the Moon's surface, just as the Sun rises from the horizon. The name captures the beauty and preciousness of Earth as an unparalleled existence within the universe.

Once it opens in 2027, Space Mountain Earthrise will feature an onboard audio system which be the first of its kind at Tokyo Disneyland.

Last night as we watched the D23 Horizons: A Carousel of Progress event, we were on the edge of our seat when they mentioned Space Mountain. The good news is that a total retheme will be coming to Space Mountain, the bad news is that this is for Disneyland Paris.

Hyperspace Mountain will soon become Space Mountain: De la Terre à la Lune.

The current Hyperspace Mountain will be transformed into Space Mountain: De la Terre à la Lune. This will return this attraction to its original theme inspired by the beloved Jules Verne story. The original musical score will also return to this attraction.

While this is great news for both Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disneyland, we are still a bit disappointed that no plans were announced for Space Mountain at the Magic Kingdom.
