Fatal Accident Shakes the Theme Park World
Tragedy has struck. It hits close to home for theme park fans and roller coaster enthusiasts, and it has our hearts and thoughts with those impacted by the horrific accident.

On October 12, 2026, the unthinkable happened at Six Flags Over Georgia. A rollercoaster accident claimed a man's life and left others injured.
What Happened at Six Flags over Georgia
The accident occurred aboard the Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia. The Goliath is a hyper coaster built by the renowned company B&M Coasters (Bolliger & Mabillard). The coaster stands 200 feet tall and tops out at speeds of 70 miles per hour.
The unthinkable happened when a man reportedly fell from the Goliath coaster, making impact with other passengers on the ride as he fell. Cobb County police department reported that the accident resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries.
First responders rushed to the scene. Ride operations stopped, stranding the next train full of riders on the lift hill. Theme park employees evacuated these riders, and eventually evacuated the entire park in the aftermath.
Aftermath of the Accident
The roller coaster and theme park community are in shock. This is an extremely unusual and horrific accident.
The accident is the first reported fatality involving a B&M coaster. Even so, out of an abundance of caution, theme parks around the nation reportedly responded by temporarily shutting down B&M hypercoasters and gigacoasters, featuring similar clamshell-style ride restraints, pending investigations and inspections.
Six Flags Released a Statemement
A spokesperson for Six Flags Over Georgia released a statement. "We are deeply saddened by the guest incident at our park today. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the guest's family, friends, and loved ones. We are also providing support to the guests and team members affected. The park team and local authorities responded immediately, and we are cooperating fully with local authorities as they complete their investigation. Out of respect for the family's privacy, we will not be sharing additional details at this time."
