Dreamfinder Is Finally Returning to EPCOT with an Imagination Overhaul
This is the update that EPCOT fans have all been imagining for years! Dreamfinder is coming back!
Journey into the Imagination with Figment
Two tiny wings, eyes big and yellow. The horns of a steer (but don't worry, he's a lovable fellow). From head to tail, he's a royal purple pigment. Are you imagining it? Good, because voila - you've got a Figment!
Everyone who has been to EPCOT in Walt Disney World has probably at least heard of Figment. The beloved little dragon is the star of the current ride: Journey into the Imagination.
But many Disney fans can attest that the ride used to be oh-so-much more. And now, Disney has a fantastic surprise for us all! The magic of the original Imagination attraction is on the way back!
Dreamfinder Returns to Imagination
Disney has finally heard the wishes of its OG EPCOT fans. Journey into the Imagination is finally getting a much-needed reimagining. But this update is actually more of a throwback!
Disney just announced that not only will everyone's favorite creative purple dragon be sticking around, but he's finally reunited with Dreamfinder, too. That's right. The Dreamfinder is finally returning to EPCOT.
"We are taking a new journey into imagination at EPCOT with Dreamfinder and Figment!" Disney Experiences Chairman Thomas Mazloum told the cheering crowd of Disney fans at D23.
For 15 years, from 1983 to 1998, Dreamfinder was at the center of Journey into Imagination, inspiring generations of EPCOT fans with his boundless optimism and sense of wonder. Fans never forgot him. And now Disney is preparing to give us new memories of Figment and Dreamfinder!
When Does It All Happen
Unfortunately, Disney did not share a timeline for when the current version of the attraction will close. Nor did they share a date for a projected reopening. However, we are just happy that the idea has even been launched.
Dreamfinder is returning to EPCOT.
While many Disney fans remain skeptical of attraction overhauls, like the ones coming to Carousel of Progress and Spaceship Earth, Imagination is one retheme that the people have actually asked for. We hope Disney sees this one through and that it doesn't end up in the land of blue sky dreams that never came true.
