Confirmed: Certain Amenities will not be available when Disney’s Polynesian Resort Reopens

For a stress-free Disney or Universal Studios vacation, let the FREE expert planners at Royal Carriage Vacations take care of every detail including dining reservations, applying discounts, and onboard cruise credit.

On the heels of a recent update, Disney confirmed certain amenities will not be available when the Polynesian reopens. Find all the details here.

Polynesian Reopening

Late last summer, Disney announced that the Polynesian would undergo a massive refurbishment of the rooms, Great Ceremonial House, and monorail station. Only the DVC rooms would be available as well as some amenities like the pool and various restaurants.

As we inch closer to the July 19 reopening, ‘Ohana is reopening and work continues on the monorail. I recently stayed in a DVC studio and was able to grab some photos of the process currently taking place, which you can see HERE.

It definitely did not look ready for Guests in just a few short weeks, and we have official confirmation of what will and will not be available then.

Disney Announcement

As the resort reopens, the temporary front desk area at Pago Pago will close, and front desk and concierge services will move back to the Great Ceremonial House.

Disney’s Magical Express and valet will be available under the new porte cochere.

While most of the resort areas and amenities will be available, the renovation of the monorail station continues and monorail service to and from the resort remains temporarily unavailable.

The front entrance to the Great Ceremonial House will also open at a later date, and Cast Members will be available to assist Guests in accessing the side entrance to the Great Ceremonial House in the meantime.

So, my suspicions were correct. The monorail and front entrance will not be available in July when the resort full reopens. Hopefully it will be completed in time for the 50th anniversary! Saratoga Springs, Old Key West, and Contemporary Resort all have upcoming refurbishment work.

Are you disappointed in the delay of the monorail and front entrance of the Great Ceremonial House? Do you have an upcoming stay at the Polynesian? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook.

We were married 10 years ago at WDW and stayed at the Poly. We are returning in September for our 10 year anniversary disappointed about so many closures. If it wasn't our 10th we would reschedule.defenitely.

I booked for Sept.04, I feel like I will delay my visit to January as I wouldn’t like paying so much for the Poly to be under construction.
