Arguably the most popular ride at Disney World is Rise of the Resistance. This immersive story-telling experience has you joining the Resistance to beat the First Order.

Since the attraction opened in December 2019, a virtual queue has been implemented to ensure a smooth boarding process. While things were a bit bumpy in the beginning, but Disney has worked out all the kinks. You can read our full guide to securing a boarding group HERE.

However, a recent (positive) change has us wondering if they may change up the virtual queue process again.

Boarding Groups

To keep things fair, Disney only allows Guests to obtain ONE boarding group per day. With it being one of the most popular rides in the parks, it can be hard to even get a boarding group!

However, this last week has perhaps been the slowest in all of 2021. The parks are all experiencing extremely low waits, which makes your day in the parks a lot more magical.

In fact, the parks are so empty that the Rise of the Resistance virtual queue has not completely filled up this week. Usually, groups are gone within seconds at both 7 am and 1 pm.

The past two days have seen boarding groups available until park closing, and Disney was evening allowing Guests to enter the standby line without a group!

New Change?

Today, Guests are even able to obtain multiple boarding groups to ride Rise of the Resistance. This is either a very strange glitch, or Disney is spreading some extra pixie dust to those who are currently in the parks enjoying low waits.

We are unsure if this is a one time glitch or something that Disney will do in the future on less busy days.

We may see this trend in the future on less busy days. With Disney giving Guests the option to skip the virtual queue and purchase the Individual Lighting Lane, this probably won’t be something that happens too often. We will continue to watch and see what happens.

If you’re reading this and just did a double take on the term “Individual Lightning Lane”…Disney announced the new paid “FastPass” system now called Genie+. You can more about that news HERE.
