Resorts, restaurants, and attractions are all subject to guest evacuations when needed. A fire, technical/mechanical malfunction, or even bad guest behavior may all be reasons why guests are forced to leave.

Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done. It surely disrupts the day, but it’s necessary to maintain the safety of guests and Cast Members.

We are thankful for the quick response of Cast Members and the local fire department when a chemical emergency took place at Disney’s Polynesian Resort.

The incident took place in the Great Ceremonial House at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. The deluxe resort’s main lobby is home to many restaurants and shops. There are no guest rooms in the main building.

Restaurants include ‘Ohana, Kona Cafe, Cap’t Cook’s, and Trader Sam’s. We know the incident took place earlier in the day on October 26, 2023 but an exact time is not known.

According to Fox35, a Cast Member mixed two chemicals that are not supposed to be mixed together in a kitchen. The reaction the mixture caused scared Cast Members.

Cast Members and Guests evacuated the entire main building until the fire department cleared the scene. We also learned that Guests on the Monorail were not able to get on or get off at the Polynesian stop.

According to the statement given by the fire department, no one was injured. Afterwards, Guests were able to go back inside and resume what they were doing.
