New predictions are in for the 2026 Hurricane Season. Find out what you need to know for your fall Walt Disney World vacation.

Hurricanes Affect Disney World

Breaking: Disney World is Closing for Hurricane Milton

Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. That's half the year! Typically, the bulk of hurricanes hit during the months of August, September, and October. September is considered peak hurricane season in Florida.

Disney World has closed its theme parks in the past due to hurricanes. It doesn't happen often, but it DOES happen. Most recently, the parks and Disney Springs were closed for Hurricane Milton in 2024.

2026 Hurricane Predictions

Hurricane Milton Threatens to Close Disney World

In May, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) offer great news for Guests visiting Florida this fall. For 2026, NOAA predicts a 75% below normal hurricane season.

There is a 20% probability of a near normal hurricane season and only a 5% chance of an above normal hurricane season.

NOAA estimates that this 2026 hurricane season there will be 7-13 named storms (with winds 39 mph or greater), 2-6 hurricanes (with winds 74 mph or greater), and only 0-2 major hurricanes (winds 111 mph or greater). On August 6, the NOAA confirms these predictions.
