Many guests are well aware that the summers at Walt Disney World can be hot. This may be why summer is the cheapest time to visit Walt Disney World.

Yesterday, August 11, 2026, the National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory for all East Central Florida counties, which included the Walt Disney World Resort.

While it is not surprising that Florida is hot in August, this current weather pattern is intensified by high humidity.

Today, this weather advisory has now escalated to an "Extreme Heat Risk" which the National Weather Service describes as "Rare and/or long-duration extreme heat with no overnight relief affecting everyone without cooling/hydration as well as health systems, industries, and infrastructure."

Walt Disney World is forecasted to experience a heat index value from 108° and 112° from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm today, August 12, 2026. The National Weather Service predicts that these weather patterns will continue through Friday due to a drier air mass limiting rain chances throughout the week.

Guests are encouraged to take breaks indoors from the extreme heat. Disney has brought many entertainment options indoors to to help combat the Florida heat. Check these out HERE.

Stay Hydrated

Of course, there are plenty of locations and carts to purchase water throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. This can become costly when trying to keep an entire family hydrated.

Another great tip is to bring a reusable water bottle from home. This is a great way to refill with cups from quick-service locations or at water bottle refill stations located throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.

If you are visiting Walt Disney World this week, take care of yourself by staying hydrated and enjoying indoor locations throughout the hottest parts of the day.
