Perhaps the most luxurious of hotels in all of Walt Disney World is Disney’s Riviera Resort. This Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort transports guests to Europe through Mediterranean architecture, design, and cuisine. It is a vacation experience like none other in Central Florida, and it’s all just a quick Skyliner ride away from two of Walt Disney World’s Theme Parks!

Even if you are unable to stay in the Magic of Disney’s Rivera Resort, the Disney Skyliner makes it easy to enjoy one of the best things about it: the food! There are so many dishes that are unique to the Rivera that are absolute culinary delights.

Riviera’s Restaurants

It is true that Disney’s Riviera Resort only has a few restaurant offerings. However, this is certainly an instance where quality prevails over quantity. After all, when everything is great, you don’t need anywhere else to go.

First up, Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera is the Riviera’s Table Service offering. It is located atop the resort rooftop and offers splendid views both day and night. This restaurant kicks off each day with a delightful prix fixe character breakfast. Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, and Donald Duck all join Guests for the meal. For a review head over here.

The day ends with a luxurious dinner of European cuisine to delight even the most discerning palate. You can enjoy dinner reviews right here and here.

The Riviera also offers a quick service option in Primo Piatto. It just happens to be one of Disney’s BEST quick-service restaurants. Throughout the day, you will find a variety of hot dishes unique to the Riviera as well as grab-n-go items. You can find a review here.

Bar Riva, the pool bar and grill has some food options as well. Some of the items served here can also be found at Primo Piatto.

Finally, the Riviera also has a delightful lobby cafe. You can enjoy Le Petit Café for morning or afternoon coffee. It also serves as a wine bar!

So what should you order when you visit the Riviera Resort’s collection of eateries? We have a list of 10 of the BEST eats at the Riviera in no particular order!

Sour Cream Waffles

If you head up to Topolino’s Terrace, one of the very BEST things you can eat is the Sour Cream Waffles. While I (Katie) love a good Mickey waffle, I have to say that these are the BEST waffles anywhere on Walt Disney World property.

These waffles come topped with Roasted Apples, Chantilly, and Orange-Maple Syrup. Plus, they are served with a choice of Smoked Bacon, Ham, Sausage, or Plant-based Sausage. The only problem with these waffles is that you will catch yourself craving them when you are away from Disney.

Wood-fired Butchers Steak

Another must-eat breakfast item at Topolino’s Terrace is the Wood-fired Butchers Steak. Every time I order this dish, it arrives perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned. It is served with Polenta, Pomodoraccio Tomatoes, Roasted Onions, Wild Mushroom Conserva, and Watercress.

It is just a delightful combination of flavors to start the day. And, although Topolino’s no longer allows diners to try multiple entrees, you CAN ask for a side of scrambled eggs if you like.

Filet Mignon

Speaking of steak, if you stick around for dinner, you should try the Filet Mignon. The accompaniments change seasonally. But, one thing is consistent: this is one of Disney World’s consistently AMAZING steaks. It is easily at the top of the list of the best steaks in Disney.

Beets Barigoule

Because Topolino’s Terrace prizes quality ingredients, the dinner menu rotates seasonally. If you happen to catch it when beets are in season, the Beets Barigoule is a lovely dish to start your meal. While you will see it plated differently from time to time, the preparation typically includes white beans, watercress, garden radish, and Lemon Meringue.

It is honestly one of the best things I have eaten in Disney World period and maybe anywhere in the world. It comes and goes from the menu, and every time it vanishes I worry it will never return.

Blueberry-Lemon Pancakes

Since you can’t have Sour Cream Waffles at Topolinos every single day (unless your budget is a little heftier than mine is), the next best breakfast item to enjoy at the Riviera is the Blueberry-Lemon Pancakes at Primo Piatto. You probably COULD have these every day if you wanted to.

These are far from your standard Disney quick-service pancakes. They are fluffy, flavorful House-made Pancakes filled with fresh Blueberries topped with Mascarpone Cream and Lemon Zest. I have always had them in dine-in situations, so I am not sure how well they hold up waiting around for pick up in a mobile ordering bag. However, I do know they are lovely when they are fresh and hot.

Mascarpone Polenta

If you order The Primo Piatto breakfast, you will find it comes with a side of Mascarpone Polenta. I have never ordered the Primo Piatto breakfast; however, I have ordered the Mascarpone Polenta as a side for my pancakes. I had to. Polenta and Mascarpone are two of my favorite things in life. Trying them in combination in the most Magical Place on Earth seemed like the right thing to do.

Spoiler alert: It WAS the right thing to do. It is creamy, delicious, perfect breakfast goodness. This is my favorite breakfast side anywhere in Disney World. I have been known to leave Hollywood Studios JUST to get polenta and coffee at the Riviera.

Tuna Niçoise Salad

Katie P

The Tuna Niçoise Salad is a delicious quick-service option when your body is craving nutrients and your taste buds are craving something fresh and delicious. It features Seared Rare Tuna on Crispy Greens tossed with Potatoes, Green Beans, Olives, Tomatoes, Hard-boiled Egg, and Champagne Vinaigrette dressing.

I have to say that this is easily Disney’s best Quick Service Salad and one of the best salads anywhere in Disney World. You can find it at both Primo Piatta and Bar Riva.

Croque Monsieur

Credit: Katie

A Croque Monsieur is one of those things that everyone who takes French 101 learns about. So, of course, it makes sense that the Riviera Resort would offer it as one of its staples. It is a classic ham and swiss sandwich.

This is not a dish where I am going to say “WOW this is better than the ones I have had in France.” Even so, it is a REALLY good Croque Monsieur, and it is unlike anything you will find anywhere else on your Walt Disney World vacation as it is unique to Primo Piatto at the Riviera.

Raspberry Mocha

Le Petite Cafe is another place where the selections rotate seasonally. I am almost hesitant to make a recommendation because the options are so fleeting and come and go quickly. However, my favorite seasonal offering is the Raspberry Mocha. I love it best with oat milk. It is a delightful little drink with just the right proportion of flavors.

I should also mention that I like my coffee a bit on the sweet side. If you don’t like your coffee to be somewhat akin to a dessert, ignore me and have a French Roast instead.

Complimentary Pastries

The last item on the list is actually a freebie. I love the Complimentary Pastry service at breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace. It isn’t that the pastries are necessarily better than what you will find at other breakfast venues. They are pretty standard chocolate chip mini muffins, croissants, and mini danishes. They are good, but on their own, they remind me of Publix pastries.

The part that makes the bread service so good is that the pastries are paired with three delicious spreads. You can alternate among honey butter, house-made jam, and a chocolate hazelnut mousse. All of them are amazing. If you love Pain au chocolate, you will probably also love Pain au chocolate hazelnut mousse.

Overall

It is honestly hard to find something bad to eat at Disney’s Riviera Resort. The hardest part is deciding what to eat now and what to eat next time because as we all know, next time is usually FAR too long when it comes to a Walt Disney World vacation.
