We have surprising new details for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure with a rather confusing backstory for the attraction. Check out all of the details, photos, and more.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Back in June of 2020, Disney announced that a major reimagining of Splash Mountain would happen. This attraction, based on the controversial 1946 film “Song Of the South,” has been a fan favorite since it debuted in 1989.
The attraction will begin where the film leaves off; with the final kiss. We’ll join Princess Tiana and her trumpet-playing alligator friend Louis “on a musical adventure.”
All we know so far is that Disney plans to open the attraction in 2024, but with the D23 Expo more news is popping up. Take a look at the 3D model of the attraction, details about a new Tiana restaurant, and a brand new store as well.
Interesting Backstory
When looking at this 3D Model for this upcoming retheme, a plaque describes the story behind the attraction. “Following the success of Tiana’s Palace, Tiana continued to grow her business with Tiana’s Foods–and employee-owned cooperative. She combined her talents with those of locals to transform an aging salt mine and built a beloved brand that bolstered neighboring communities.”
Kenny the Pirate made a good observation that this could help explain why the attraction is on a hill or the “salt mine.” At Walt Disney World, this still will not help explain how it is located next to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, though.
New Feature Revealed
In talking with an Imagineer at the D23 Expo, we learned a new interesting element for this rethemed attraction. We now know that the water for this attraction will glow. Can you imagine the huge drop into a glowing pool of water? This will be such a cool new feature.

This story doesn't fit the Louisiana theme or the time period of the movie at all, and the food in Tiana's restaurant on the Wonder was not authentic and some of the worst food I have experienced at Disney. I lived in Louisiana for a good portion of my adult life. This attraction and theming is a mess.

It would be really cool if they would have a bayou themed restaurant near there as well because the food and magic Kingdom is really lacking
