At times, Disney attractions have refurbishments and special overlays. Catch this Space Mountain overlay before it’s gone.
Refurbishments
No one wants their favorite Disney attraction to be closed during their visit. However, they regularly do close for both minor and major refurbishments. Check out the list of attraction refurbishments HERE.
Many times these refurbishments will cause attractions to be closed for an extended period of time. However, this was the not case this spring when Disney announced a re-theme for Space Mountain in Disneyland. The attraction only closed one day for the temporary transformation.
Hyperspace Mountain Overlay
To celebrate May the 4th and all things Star Wars, Disneyland offers a Star Wars version for Space Mountain. Disney shares the following about Hyperspace Mountain, “Fend off crossfire from swarms of Rebel X-wing starfighters and Imperial TIE fighters amidst an intergalactic onslaught!”
“As Rebel forces valiantly battle Imperial vessels, you’re caught up in a barrage of blaster fire. Maneuvers become more intense as you join the Rebel squadron for one final, courageous assault on the menacing Star Destroyer. It’s an epic Star Wars combat scene taken straight from the films.”
The timing for the Hyperspace Mountain overlay took place the same time as the After Dark Star Wars Nite held in May.
Star Wars in Parks
Do you enjoy the May the 4th Star Wars merchandise, food, and photographs? Or, do you really miss Star Wars weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios like I (Susan) do? Although I’m a Star Wars fan, at times I feel like Disney takes away experiences for park goers in favor for really expensive encounters like the Galactic Starcruiser.
Before Disney World shut down in 2020, there were also character meets rather than seeing our Star Wars friends in Galaxy’s Edge roaming around. Do you prefer them roaming or standard greets?
Overlay Ending Soon
Although Disneyland has transformed Space Mountain into Hyperspace Mountain the last few years, it’s almost time for it to end for this year. Be sure to ride Hyperspace Mountain on or before July 4, 2022 before it reopens on July 5 without this special overlay.
Hyperspace Mountain overlay will go away on July 4, 2022.
What do you think of Hyperspace Mountain? Do you wish it would come to Walt Disney World? Or do you prefer the traditional Space Mountain ride? Please share your thoughts with us on our Facebook Page.
