Refurbishments
Refurbishment is an often dreaded word around the Disney Parks. From time to time our favorite attractions are closed for a minor or sometimes major refurbishment. Check out the current list of attraction refurbishments HERE.
Many times these refurbishments will cause attractions to be closed for an extended period of time. Disney has just announced that a re-theme will take place for Space Mountain in Disneyland.
The best part of this news is that Space Mountain will only be closed for one day for this change.
Hyper Space Mountain
Who is getting excited for May the 4th? Disneyland is already preparing for this fun event. Disneyland will change Space Mountain into Hyperspace Mountain in honor of May the 4th.
Disneyland shares the following about Hyperspace Mountain, “Fend off crossfire from swarms of Rebel X-wing starfighters and Imperial TIE fighters amidst an intergalactic onslaught!”
“Your mission begins with a briefing from Admiral Ackbar—the Rebel Alliance needs help flying reconnaissance vessels to survey an Imperial Star Destroyer. After being escorted into hyperspace by an elite X-wing squadron, you arrive only to find the Star Destroyer waiting with a swarm of TIE fighters—it’s a trap!“
“As Rebel forces valiantly battle Imperial vessels, you’re caught up in a barrage of blaster fire. Maneuvers become more intense as you join the Rebel squadron for one final, courageous assault on the menacing Star Destroyer. It’s an epic Star Wars combat scene taken straight from the films.”
I (Donna) was able to enjoy this attraction in 2019 and it was AMAZING!
How Long can Guests enjoy Hyperspace Mountain
Space Mountain will be closed on April 28, 2022 to Guests. When Guests enter Disneyland on April 29, 2022, they will be able to experience Hyperspace Mountain. This overlay will only be available for a limited time, and Disneyland has not shared an end date.

Why can't they do a special overlay for space mountain at Disney World???

Never offered anything like you experienced in DL at WDW in 2019 . Last year there was absolutely nothing special done for May 4th at GE in WDW. It was just another day.
