Are you ready to journey to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge? Check out the exciting new update that will delight Star Wars fans of all ages.
Character Sightings
When the Disney Parks reopened, many things were a bit different. One of the biggest changes was with character interactions. For quite some time, Guests could see characters at “pop-up” locations throughout the Disney Parks and take a distanced photo with them. No lines were formed for these interactions. Next, Dinsey introduced a more “formal” character interaction with “Character Sightings.”
These were still magical, but something was missing. We all still wanted to hug and get autographs from our favorite characters. Starting in April, guests can once again hug and interact with many of their favorite Disney characters. The Disney Parks shared that character interactions would return in phases. Read more about this HERE.
Guests can now enjoy a new phase of character interaction over at Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Interact with Favorite Characters
Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, guests can travel to the planet of Batuu. Once inside guests can be transported aboard the Millennium Falcon on Smuggler’s Run or join the resistance aboard Rise of the Resistance. What has been missing is the great character interactions on this planet, until now.
Previously guests could enjoy a few pop-up characters in Galaxy’s Edge. Storm Troopers and Kilo Ren could be seen by guests while socially distanced. Also, Chewbacca, Vi Moradi, and Rey have been seen by Guests. These characters were positioned with social distancing in mind. Guests could take a selfie with them and interact throughout the day.
Now social distancing is no longer in place for these characters. Rey and Chewbacca were freely roaming throughout with guests.
Rey and Chewbacca were freely roaming throughout with guests. This type of interaction is what many guests greatly missed when the parks first reopened. At this time, there is not an official meeting location for Star Wars characters at Hollywood Studios.
Guests may ask if they can take a photo with these characters, but do not expect that they can always pause for a photo. Prior to Park closing, fellow KtP writer, Susan Philips, was able to have the above photo taken with Rey.
Recently, Disneyland announced that they would welcome popular characters from the Mandalorian series to their park. Unfortunately, Walt Disney World has not shared if these characters may also appear on the east coast as well.
What do you think of these non-distanced character interactions? Do you think there should be an official meet and greet locations for these Star Wars characters at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Share your thoughts with us on our Facebook Page.
