We know a few shows ARE returning this year. However, what we do not know is a DATE. Disney has provided some clarification on when we can expect these shows again.
Fantasmic!
The Fantasmic! show has delighted Guests since 1992 (with a closure in 2016). This show, like other nighttime entertainment, has remained closed since the reopening of the parks.
Last November, we shared that Fantasmic! will be returning in 2022. Disneyland President Ken Potrock shared why this show continues to be delayed:
“It just took longer to do. We were literally installing towers as of earlier this week. It’s just a much more intricate, complex mechanical endeavor. The teams have been working extraordinarily hard. Part of it was the fact that parts and workmanship at a lot of places that were happening off property were slowed by COVID. That all fit into the production.”
Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond
Finding Nemo: The Musical was among a few shows that disappeared from the Disney website. Back in September, Disney shared that a new show would head to Animal Kingdom! Here is the official announcement.
This newly reimagined show will be called Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond. We can expect to be put in the story of Finding Dory and hear the same amazing songs, watch the amazing puppetry, and more of what we love about the original show. You can read more from the D23 announcement HERE.
Disney has put out casting calls recently, and practices have already begun!
Opening…later this year?
Along with the news that Hoop-Dee-Doo is returning this summer (!!!), Disney also shared a small update on the return of Fantamsic! and Finding Nemo. Disney tells us that these shows will be coming back later this year.
“Fantasmic! and Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond will return later this year.”
It’s not much, but it sheds a bit more light on the situation. Later this year could mean this summer (although I feel if that were the case they would be sharing more) or perhaps this fall.
When do you hope these shows return? Let us know in the comments below and on Facebook.
