The Fantasmic! show has delighted Guests since 1992 (with a closure in 2016). This show, like other nighttime entertainment, has remained closed since the reopening of the parks.

Last November, we shared that Fantasmic! will be returning in 2022. That’s right, Fantasmic! is returning!!!! At this time we do not have a definite date for when it will return to Walt Disney World. This week we shared that “Fantasmic!” is set to return to Disneyland on on May 28, 2022.

In January, we shared that “Fantasmic!” was being tested at Disneyland. Many have wondered why the the return of “Fantasmic!” at Disneyland and Disney World continue to be delayed.

Disneyland President Ken Potrock shared the case for this delay with the Orange County Register:

“It just took longer to do. We were literally installing towers as of earlier this week. It’s just a much more intricate, complex mechanical endeavor. The teams have been working extraordinarily hard. Part of it was the fact that parts and workmanship at a lot of places that were happening off property were slowed by COVID. That all fit into the production.”

At this time Walt Disney World has still yet to announce a return date for “Fantasmic!” other than simply returning in 2022. We wonder if Walt Disney World may be experiencing similar delays as seen at Disneyland for this intricate show.

Although we may be waiting a bit longer for this great nighttime show, we anticipate a valiant return of our hero Mickey Mouse. We are excited for the new scenes to be included in this classic show as well.
