Breaking News: Guardians of the Galaxy Hits a HUGE milestone

Progress continues to be made for EPCOT’s newest attraction Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Now this attraction has reached a new milestone. Check out this exciting new development below.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

The coaster, called Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, takes place during Peter Quill’s visit to Epcot in the 1980s. So, get ready for plenty of throwback Epcot nostalgia. It’s up to riders to help the Guardians save the galaxy!

The ride will start in the “Galaxarium“, a planetarium-like structure. It showcases the similarities between Earth’s galaxy (the Milky Way) and the Guardians galaxy (Xandar).

You can check out the exterior of this attraction and even an exclusive sneak peek featuring Glenn Close. The completion of this coaster will be part of the huge transformation of EPCOT.

Last week, we shared great details for this attraction from an interview with Disney Imagineer, Watt Winter. Winter shares that the, “thrill factor lies somewhere between that of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.” We are so excited for the opening of this attraction and we now have a great sign that things are right on track for this attraction to welcome Guests in the summer of 2022.

Early Ride Testing

Today, December 13th, Walt Disney World President, Jeff Vahle, shared an exciting update for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind via his Instagram account.

Vahle shares, “After getting an update on the latest progress and an early test ride on Guardians of the Galalaxy: Cosmic Rewind, I have three words: it is AWESOME!!!!”

“Thank you to the teams at Walt Disney Imagineering and Walt Disney World who are bringing this amazing attraction to life. I’m looking forward to seeing the finishing touches over the next several months and can’t wait for you to get a look when it opens at EPCOT next summer as part of the park’s transformation!”

Can you believe that Jeff Vahle has already participated in an early test ride of this attraction? That is so cool and he apparently was blown away by it. We are so excited to learn that testing is taking place, and we can’t wait to hear more about this amazing new attraction.
