Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
The coaster, called Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, takes place during Peter Quill’s visit to Epcot in the 1980s. So, get ready for plenty of throwback Epcot nostalgia. It’s up to riders to help the Guardians save the galaxy!
The ride will start in the “Galaxarium“, a planetarium-like structure. It showcases the similarities between Earth’s galaxy (the Milky Way) and the Guardians galaxy (Xandar).
This family-friendly coaster features a ride vehicle that rotates 360 degrees. For the first time at a Disney Park, you’ll find a reverse launch! Here, guests take part in an exciting chase through space and time! Be sure to check out this attraction video HERE.
Opening Timeline & Sneak Peek
Last month, the Walt Disney Company shared that this attraction will welcome Guests the summer of 2022. It appears that this attraction is on track for this timeline. Check out the new exterior to this attraction building HERE.
Disney has also released a teaser trailer featuring Glenn Close. You will not want to miss this amazing sneak peek into this attraction. We are so excited for this attraction to be added to the transformation of EPCOT in 2022.
New Exciting Details
Recently Imagineer Wyatt Winter shared some exciting details for EPCOT’s first roller coaster with Entertainment Weekly. Winter shares that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic rewind will allow Guests to experience “(slower) speeds to take it all in, along with high-speed coaster experiences.”
What will this look like compared to our favorite Disney attractions? Winter shares that the “thrill factor lies somewhere between that of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.” Anybody else excited to climb aboard?

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind utilizes the space that was once Ellen’s Energy Adventure. This has now been expanded into a new building. Winter shares, “You will have to get out here to ride it once we’re open…it has a whole new building that we added on to that original location here at EPCOT to bring this whole thing to life.”
Animatronics and Characters
EPCOT is truly undergoing quite the transformation. Recently, Disney officially introduced EPCOT neighborhoods. Winter shares that “The planet of Xandar has come to earth, or ‘Terrra,’ as they call it. They’re here to set up the first Other-World Showcase Pavilion.”
The “Other-World” Showcase Pavilion also includes Test Track and Mission: Space. We shared that Glenn Close will make an appearance as Nova Prime and we will also see the return of a few of our favorite characters from the film as well.
Winter shared with Entertainment Weekly that the “show building” will be “complete with animatronics, digital media, and the James Gunn directed series signature soundtrack of pop-rock hits, all in the name of amping up the same ‘energy and excitement’ from the films.”

This attraction is “on a unique timeline.” Winter shares that there will be plenty of surprises for both Marvel and Disney fans. “Fans of both the films and Disney Parks are going to find Easter Eggs. There are fun ones for both!”
We are so excited to experience this amazing attraction. It will truly bring a fun energy to EPCOT.
