Another play area has reopened at the Magic Kingdom! Read on to see where you find another place to let your kiddos burn off some energy.

Relaxed protocols

We have seen many safety guidelines and protocols become more and more relaxed at Walt Disney World. Just in the past few weeks, we have seen updates to the mask policy, physical distancing markers removed from more and more places in the park, and we are beginning to say goodbye to those plexiglass dividers.

We have also seen changes done recently to Disney transportation, including Disney’s Skyliner, the monorail and bus transportation.

So long to all of those! I sincerely hope we do not see any of these again.

Play areas

Among the many things affected due to the pandemic were play areas in the theme parks.

Disney had closed off some of the more high-touch areas of the park. Splash Mountain, Dumbo, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh all have play areas in the queue or nearby. It’s nice for the kids to burn off some energy or keep occupied while waiting in line!

We first saw the popular play area to Dumbo reopen to guests followed by play areas over in Epcot. These areas included the ones by Mission: SPACE and the Splash Zone.

Now another one has reopened in the Magic Kingdom.

The play area by Splash Mountain has reopened!

A busy summer ahead

This is great news! With the parks increasing capacity and summer crowds rolling in, Walt Disney World is preparing for a very busy summer. Now that Disney has announced fireworks are returning, those are sure to draw even more guests to the parks.

Hopefully, all of the play areas in the parks will be open soon. We are still waiting to see several reopen, including Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Bruce’s Shark World over in Epcot reopen.

Do you use the play areas in the theme parks often? Which one do you hope to see reopen next? Tell us about it in the comments below or on our Facebook page.
