Monorail Maintenance has a New Date

Monorail Maintenance has a New Date

For a stress-free Disney or Universal Studios vacation, let the FREE expert planners at Royal Carriage Vacations take care of every detail including dining reservations, applying discounts, and onboard cruise credit.

Earlier this month, we reported to you that the Epcot monorail would undergo maintenance; however, that was delayed with no new start date. Well, now we have a new start date.

Disney will be undergoing several refurbishments this winter now that the busy holiday season is over and crowds have simmered down.

Test Track is currently closed until the end of February and a Muppet*Vision 3D refurbishment was recently announced, too.

Earlier we shared that beginning January 13, the Epcot monorail would experience a delayed opening due to maintenance plans, causing it to not begin operating until 10:00 am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays.

No timeline was given for when work would be complete and no details about the type of work being done were revealed.

Not long after that was announced, we received word on January 10 that the start date would be delayed. No new date was given.

Epcot Monorail to Undergo Maintenance on Select Days in January

Well, now we have a date. Beginning January 20, construction on the Epcot line will take place. The same days and times are still in effect.

This may affect your plans to visit Epcot for Festival of the Arts. If you plan to arrive at Epcot before 10 am, you will need to travel by Skyliner or use the Disney bus system.

Disney's Skyliner Gondola map

As a reminder, the Skyliner runs between Riviera Resort, Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, and Art of Animation. If you are staying at one of those resorts it’s a quick trip to Epcot.

Buses run from all resorts so it won’t be difficult at all to get there by bus. Unless, of course, you’re staying at a Skyliner resort. Additionally, you can also take your own personal vehicle or a Minnie Van as well.

Remember, Disney has reduced bus service to Epcot and Hollywood Studios from Skyliner resorts. If you are staying at a Skyliner resort you are encouraged to use it.
