UPDATE January 10: This refurbishment has been delayed, and there will NOT be a delayed opening as previously reported. We will keep you updated in case something changes again.

It is that time of the year that Disney parks undergo a series of construction and maintenance for various attractions throughout the property, especially since the rush of the holidays has simmered down.

Therefore, it is no surprise that it has been announced that the same will occur for the Walt Disney World monorail system.

Beginning, January 13th, 2020, the Epcot monorail line will be experiencing delayed openings, according to Orlando Parks News. The monorail will be delayed in operating on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays to receive maintenance.

The monorail will open at 10:00 a.m. those days as a result. At this time, it is unknown how long maintenance will last.

Also, keep in mind that the Epcot International Festival of the Arts will take place from January 17 to Feburary 24, 2020. No information has been released whether it will affect the full duration of the festival.

Guests that are wanting to enter Epcot earlier in the day may do so by taking the Skyliner to the International Gateway at Epcot. The International Gateway is conveniently located close to various resorts such as Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, and Disney’s Boardwalk Inn.

Additionally, you may also catch the Disney Skyliner at Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Art of Amination Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Riviera Resort.

Guests may also use the bus transportation that Disney provides to and from the resorts. I would also highly recommend taking a Minnie Van to Epcot during this time to alleviate any stress.

Just yesterday, our fellow KtP writer had shared the news that during an eventful day at Magic Kingdom, the monorail itself had closed down for a short period of time.

What are your thoughts regarding the construction and maintenance that the Epcot monorail will be receiving? Do you think it’s time for an update? Let us know on the Kenny the Pirate Crew facebook group!
