Without Warning a New Refurbishment Started at Disney World

Typically, Disney gives a warning when a big refurbishment is planned, but not this time. Find out the less-than-magical change you can expect for your next Walt Disney World vacation.

Refurbishments are a part of life at Disney Parks. These may take place for various reasons. Whether it be for mechanical issues or cosmetic updates, a refurbishment can take place for many reasons.

Based on the nature of the work, the refurbishment may take a few days or several months. Although refurbishments occur throughout the year, Walt Disney World tends to begin many refurbishments in the slower months of January and February.

What is even more puzzling is when Disney prepares for a BIG refurbishment without any warning.

Animal Kingdom Closures

Disney's Animal Kingdom is a bit of a mess right now. The "big elephant in the room" is the phased closure of DinoLand, USA. Although DINOSAUR and Restarauntosaurus are still open, construction walls line the majority of this space.

For several months, a portion of the Tree of Life was closed off as "It's Tough To Be a Bug" was rethemed to "Zootopia Better Zoogether."

Now that "Zootopia Better Zoogether" officially opens today, we notice signs of a BIG refurbishment project that Disney has not yet announced.

Earlier this week, we shared that safety netting was installed along the queue for "Zootopia Better Zoogether". This led us to wonder if a refurbishment could be planned for the Tree of Life.

Last night, we were delighted that "Zootopia Better Zoogether" opened early to ALL guests. While in line, we noticed several construction walls that were not present at an earlier preview of "Zootopia Better Zoogether".

This greatly affects the overall theming of this space, and this has us worried that another big refurbishment is planned for Disney's Animal Kingdom. When the Tree of Life received a huge refurbishment in January 2023, this closed many of the walking trails located around it.
