There are many great perks for Annual Passholders at Walt Disney World. One of the greatest perks of being a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder is the fantastic discounts available on shopping and dining in the Parks. Typically this is 20% off select merchandise and dining locations, but at times Disney offers an added bonus of 30% off for a limited time.

Currently, Annual Passholders have a finite number of Park Reservations that they can secure. Throughout the year, Disney will offer “Bonus Reservations.” The best part is that these bonus reservations do not count against your Park Reservations number allowed.

This also extends to special Annual Passholder-only merchandise and FREE character magnets at times.

As many Disney fans are aware, yesterday was the end of the 50th Anniversary celebrations at Walt Disney World. Last night at the stroke of midnight, it was as if the magic of “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” is now officially over. Just like Cinderella in her pumpkin carriage, everything turned back to how it was before.

You can see the plans for the park icons HERE, plans for the 50th golden statues HERE, and the new digital map images HERE. Now it appears an Annual Passholder perk is removed as well.

During the 50th Anniversary celebrations, Annual Passholders received a fun surprise as they enter each of Disney World’s Theme Parks. Instead of the standard green-lighted Mickey head, the tap style would illuminate purple with a special sound effect.

Now that the 50th Anniversary is ended, this fun perk appears to have vanished. Annual Passholders entering the parks today shared that the tap style now only illuminates green.

This fun perk may have been overlooked by many Annual Passholders, but to others, this is a bit disappointing. It would have been a fun surprise if this had been changed to a different sound or light color, but to still keep the magic.

What do you think of this change? Did you enjoy the special light and sound effects? Do you think they may bring this perk back in a new way for Annual Passholders? Share this with your fellow Annual Passholder friends and leave a comment below.

I was always confused by the purple color. I worried when it didn’t immediately come up green. Now I find out I was special!
