Surprising Reason for High Wait Times at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

As many guests enjoy Walt Disney World this holiday weekend, they are met with disappointing wait times at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Check out the surprising reason why.

Recently we shared about the limited Park Reservations for Memorial Day weekend. The summer continues to hit capacity at Walt Disney World so be sure to make your Park Reservations as soon as you can. With the grand opening of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, this weekend is a particularly busy one at Walt Disney World.

This morning, Guests hoping to purchase Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes were met with a bit of frustration. Check out the technical frustration for guests HERE. Unfortunately, that is not the only bit of frustration for guests at Walt Disney World. Check out the surprising reason for high wait times at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has many of the most popular attractions at Walt Disney World. Last weekend many of Disney’s Hollywood Studios were not operating.

Unfortunately, this park sees many temporary delays for attractions. Rise of the Resistance goes down quite often throughout the day. We have also shared that they are working on part of the Tower of Terror. We are seeing extremely high wait times as Disney closes some of the elevators.

Now an unexpected attraction is causing high wait times. Over in Toy Story Land, guests have noticed that one side of Alien Swirling Saucers is surrounded by construction walls. We first saw problems arise for this attraction back on May 19th.

This attraction allows guests to climb aboard a spinning saucer on both the right and left sides similar to Dumbo. The fact that only one side is operational has created higher wait times.

Over in Toy Story Land, guests have noticed that one side of Alien Swirling Saucers is surrounded by construction walls.

Also noteworthy is that Alien Swirling Saucers have been temporarily unavailable at various times throughout the weekend. Although all guests may not be running to this attraction, this creates frustration for guests as wait times continue to rise at other attractions. This also limits Disney Genie+ selections at this park.

At this writing, Alien Swirling Saucers has a 60-minute wait time. We will continue to watch these wait times throughout the day.
