Return of Character Meet & Greets

When the Disney Parks reopened, many things were a bit different. One of the biggest changes was with character interactions. For quite some time, Guests could see characters at “pop-up” locations throughout the Disney Parks and take a distanced photo with them. No lines were formed for these interactions. Next, Dinsey introduced a more “formal” character interaction with “Character Sightings.”

The best news is that the ropes have been lowered and Guests can enjoy non-distanced character interactions and even hug their favorite Disney characters.

Meeting Mickey Mouse at Magic Kingdom

In the Magic Kingdom, Guests can now meet with Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theatre. Mickey Mouse looks ever so dapper in his 50th anniversary attire.

At this location, a PhotoPass photographer is not present. Instead, the automated Photobox has returned. A Cast Member is present to direct guests to pose as a burst of photos are taken. On a recent trip, we had photos taken with the Photobox. You can read our review of this experience HERE. After we had said our “See ya real soon” to Mickey Mouse we were directed to scan our Magic Bands at the PhotoPass kiosk.

Previously, guests posed in front of a red curtain. Now your meeting with Mickey Mouse is about to be a bit more magical.

Magical Overaly

Guests visiting Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theatre noticed a new magical addition to this Meet & Greet. Mickey Mouse is still in his dapper 50th Anniversary suit, but now the backdrop compliments his Ear-idescent suit.

Mickey Mouse now greets guests in front of a new backdrop. This is blue to coordinate with his 50th Anniversary suit but still keeps with the magical touches that we love at this location. On the left-hand side are a magic hat and rings, while the right-hand side features playing cards and his magician’s staff. While a beautiful script of Mickey’s initials is in the center.

Check out this photo lieu10ant_jay shares on Instagram of his magical time with Mickey Mouse.

The truly magical feature of this new backdrop is that light illuminates from Mickey’s hat. This magic then moves up to the center of the backdrop. In addition to Mickey’s initials in the center, now an illuminated 50 also appears. This is such a beautiful way to commemorate the 50th Anniversary.

Mickey Mouse now greets guests in front of a 50th Anniversary backdrop that includes his magician props and a beautiful illuminated 50 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary celebration.

What do you think of this new 50th backdrop? Do you still wish a PhotoPass Photographer was present at this location? Will you be meeting Mickey Mouse during your next trip to the Magic Kingdom? Share your thoughts with us on our Facebook Page?
