A Disney World Refurbishment is Complete Sooner than Expected!

A Disney World Refurbishment is Complete Sooner than Expected!

Finally, some good refurbishment news! A Disney attraction is reopening sooner than anticipated!

Refurbishments

Today has been a wild refurbishment day. First, Mad Tea Party will close later this month for a brief refurbishment. Second, Swiss Family Treehouse in Adventureland will close for two weeks in March for a touch up.

Disney is preparing for the 50th anniversary of Magic Kingdom by refurbishing many of the attractions. While it is unfortunate these may be closed during your upcoming trips, it is also necessary for the major crowds that will be flocking to Disney World later this year.

You can see a full list of the scheduled Disney World refurbishments HERE.

Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island

Earlier last fall, both Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island closed for refurbishment. It was extended until early Spring.

The Liberty Square Riverboat offers a relaxing 17 minute trip around Tom Sawyer Island. During the ride, hear stories of American Author Mark Twain’s time in Mississippi while taking in the sights of Liberty Square and Frontierland.

Highlights of the tour include an early American settlement, a native American village, Harper’s Mill, Fort Langhorn, Wilson’s Cave inn, and a variety of woodland animals. You’ll also be treated to great views of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain and the Haunted Mansion.

Just recently, Disney refilled the water giving us a hint that maybe it would reopen sooner than planned. According to the Disney World website, the boat ride will transport Guests again this Friday, February 5! That’s almost an entire month earlier than expected!

Tom Sawyer Island will also open on February 5 as well. This island is fun to pretend you’re an early pioneer as you explore the fort and surroundings.

Are you excited these attractions will reopen? Will you be adding them to your touring plans for Magic Kingdom?
