Refurbishment work continues on various Magic Kingdom attractions. This time, one attraction in Fantasyland will close for updates.
Refurbishments
As Disney World gears up for its 50th anniversary celebrations, many attractions at Magic Kingdom are closing for refurbishments and updates.
PeopleMover has infamously been down since the parks closed last March, not reopening with the parks in July. It is set to reopen early this Spring along with Tom Sawyer Island and Liberty Square Riverboat. Additionally, Hall of Presidents is closed to add President Biden to the attraction. This will be closed for some time although Disney has not announced a reopening date.

Fantasyland Refurbishment
Mad Tea Party will join the list of attractions undergoing refurbishment. This whimsical ride combines giant tea cups, festive music, and lots (and lots) of spinning. I won’t lie, this ride makes me feel uneasy so I don’t ride it often.
The ride is inspired by the Mad Hatter’s party sequence in Alice in Wonderland. It was an opening day attraction at both Disneyland in 1955 and Disney World in 1971.
According to the Disney World calendar, Mad Tea Party will close on February 22. It plans to reopen to Guests on March 5. This is not a long refurbishment – it probably just needs some small updates.
How will this affect your trip?
Unfortunately, if you have a trip planned for late February/early March, this ride will be unavailable. With several other attractions closed during this time, you will have to fill your time with other rides. However, with so many in the park, this should not be a problem!
While nothing can replace the Mad Tea Party, try some of the other attractions in Fantasyland like the Prince Charming Carousel or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
