Today we got an exciting announcement! Soon, guests will be able to register for the 2021 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend and the virtual race series! Plus, registration dates for other runDisney events have also been adjusted. Read on for details.
Registration for the 2021 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend was originally set for April 7, but it was postponed amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
As of today, the main page for the 2021 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend has a new registration date! The page shows that general registration will open on May 12, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time.
Generally, for RunDisney events, Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members are given priority registration. In this case, they will be able to register on May 7, 2020.
The dates for the Princess Half Marathon registration were also changed. Registration will now take place on June 11 for priority and June 16, 2020 for all registrants.
Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend registration will take place on August 6, 2020 for pre-sale and August 11, 2020 for general on-sale.
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend
The January marathon weekend is the biggest runDisney event of the year! It is the only weekend that features a full marathon course, which takes participants through all four parks!
In addition to the full marathon, there is a half marathon, a 10k race, and a 5k race. Some participants choose to do what is called Goofy’s Race and a Half, which is when they complete the half marathon AND the full marathon.
But some participants just find Goofy’s Race and a Half to be too easy! They opt for the Dopey Challenge and complete all 4 races that weekend!
There are also kids races, which come with a cute t-shirt and medal!
Virtual Race Series

Beginning tomorrow, April 16, you can register for the runDisney virtual series! You can register for one or all! This year, the theme is Disney attractions. I can’t wait to see the medals!
