When Walt first envisioned the Haunted Mansion, it was going to be a walk-through ride. However, the Imagineers developed the Omnimover with technology used at the World's Fair, allowing Doom Buggies to continuously move throughout the ride. Disneyland's Haunted Mansion was the first one built in 1969, 3 years after Walt Disney's death.
The idea of the Haunted Mansion varies at each Disney Park around the globe. From mansions to manors, this attraction is a favorite among many Disney guests.
Haunted Mansion Secret Haunts
At Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, there are several fun spooky secrets hidden within the Haunted Mansion.
For example, on the Haunted Mansion roof, Marc Davis, an avid chess player, cleverly hid chess pieces in plain sight as a tribute to his favorite pastime.
When visiting at night, check out the top-story window. You may see a creepy shadow that looks like two people with lanterns crossing by. See all of the ghoulish delights hidden in this attraction HERE. There is even a special treat for the last Guest to visit the Haunted Mansion each night.
