Disney's Yacht Club Guests Alerted by Black Smoke
Walt Disney World Guests were shocked to see black smoke billowing from Disney's Yacht Club today. Find out what we know so far about this incident.
"Disney Bubble"
When Walt Disney first created Disneyland, he saw the need for a berm around the park. The berm, a mound of dirt, helped to create a physical and auditory barrier for guests inside Disneyland to the outside world.
Believe it or not, the Walt Disney Company did not coin the term the "Disney Bubble." This concept actually came from guests describing why they chose to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort.
The idea behind the "Disney Bubble" is that once you arrive at Walt Disney World, you never have to leave the Disney magic.
Black Smoke at Disney's Yacht Club
Unfortunately, incidents still happen even within the Disney bubble. Just a few weeks ago, two dining locations were evacuated due to fire alarms, and over 20 attractions were closed due to severe weather.
This morning around 11:00 am, a Walt Disney World guest shared on Reddit a video showing black smoke billowing from behind Disney's Yacht Club.
According to Reddit user mywifestvshowsstink, the black smoke billowed only for a few minutes. It does not appear that an evacuation was issued for Disney's Yacht Club.
Reason for Disney's Yacht Club Black Smoke
While this was a scary scene, especially after the recent fire at Disney's Dolphin Resort, it appears that this may have been caused by the ongoing refurbishment of this resort.

When it was first announced that Disney's Yacht & Beach Club resorts would be undergoing refurbishment, it was only expected to take several months for each.
Last August, Disney shared that the refurbishment would be extended. Hopefully, the remaining refurbishment work will not look quite so alarming to Guests.
