Why The New Muppet Show Is a Huge Success
Many had concerns that The Muppet Show reboot may be a big flop, but the Muppets are back and more popular than ever!

Created by Jim Henson in 1976 and airing through 1981, this variety show featuring Kermit the Frog and his gang quickly amassed a huge following, with the first full-length film, "The Muppet Movie," released in 1979.
In honor of The Muppet Show's 50th anniversary, Disney brought back the perfect The Muppet Show reboot.
Why The Muppet Show is successful
There are two key factors that contribute to the success of this new Muppet Show reboot. The first is that Muppet veterans such as Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel returned to bring the true magic of the Muppets to life.
Secondly, "The Muppet Show" is known for is featuring popular Hollywood entertainers, and this tribute to "The Muppet Show" is no different. Sabrina Carpenter served as the guest star.
Carpenter was absolute perfection with the running gag being that she stole her signature look from Miss Piggy.
New Muppet Show Reviews
The Muppet Show is now streaming on Disney+ and debuted on ABC this past Wednesday, February 4, 2026. It received 3.07 million views on ABC alone. This was the biggest show of the night for network tv for the key 18-49 year old demographic.

It is now the #1 Trending Project" on Disney+ in 59 countries. With so many rave reviews, many are left wondering why this is not a full series.
2026 will be a BIG year for the Muppets with them coming to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and new live shows promised in the Parks and aboard the Disney Cruise Line. We can only hope that more episodes of The Muppet Show will also be added.
