Why 90's Kids Are Renewing Their Disney+ Subscriptions
Kids of the 1990's get ready for the excitement of the "Disney Afternoon" once again. You will not believe who they have cast for this nostalgic series.
Disney+ Quality Over Quantity
Disney+ is the dedicated streaming home for movies and shows from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and more, including exclusive Disney+ Originals.
Former Disney CEO Bob Iger shared in 2024 that in the early days of Disney+, the Walt Disney Company pushed to create a huge quantity of shows and films to stream on Disney+. While this bolstered Disney+ in what many call the "streaming wars", Iger felt the quality was often overlooked.
This shift towards quality has brought a nostalgic trend, such as the return of Oswald to Disney+ soon, along with a new frontier with a Spaceship Earth pilot in the works for Disney+.
Darkwing Duck
"Let's get dangerous" because Disney+ has now officially ordered a reboot of the Darkwing Duck animated series. The series will pick up where the animated classic ended.
"For the last 35 years, Darkwing Duck has been trapped in his worst nightmare: an alternate world that's never heard of his superhero exploits. Now a rebellious teen named Duckie, who knows all about his heroic past, shows up to pull this ego-fueled vigilante back into battle.
Together, this unlikely duo will get dangerous to fight old enemies like Negaduck and Megavolt and reunite with allies Launchpad, Gosalyn and Morgana to save the entire universe."
Darkwing Duck Cast
The biggest question for many Disney fans is: Who will reprise our favorite characters, Darkwing Duck and Launchpad? Disney Legend, Mark Hamil ("Star Wars") will voice Darkwing Duck. His trusted sidekick, Launchpad, will be voiced by Seth Rogen ("The Muppet Show").
The full cast includes: Lizzy Caplan ("Party Down") as Gosalyn Mallard, Lilimar ("Inside Out 2") as Duckie, Dan Stevens ("Onslaught") as Glade McTowers, Tiffany Shepis ("Star Trek: Picard") as Rosa, Kathryn Newton ("Avengers: Doomsday") as Firecracker, Teo Briones ("Final Destination Bloodlines") as Timb, Tyler Dean Flores ("Neon") as Pondsy, Katie Rich("Saturday Night Live") as Officer Shanks, and Nat Faxon ("The Descendants") as Officer Webb.
Disney+ has now officially ordered a reboot of the Darkwing Duck animated series.
While a streaming date is still to be determined, the original Darkwing Duck series is now streaming on Disney+.
