Although the Disney Parks stay busy throughout the calendar year, there are slower times for the parks. Disney will often aim to schedule refurbishments during these "slower" periods.

During the winter months, each Walt Disney World water park will close for an annual refurbishment. One water park will remain open for Guests' enjoyment while the other water park receives its refurbishment.

Typically, when the first water park reopens from its annual refurbishment, the second park closes for its annual refurbishment.

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon closed for a seasonal refurbishment on September 9, 2026. During this time, Dinsey's Blizzard Beach remains open to Guests.

Disney has now set a reopening date for Disney's Typhoon Lagoon for January 27, 2027. On this date, Disney's Blizzard Beach will close for its seasonal refurbishment.

This is perfect timing for Disney to prepare for the return of the free Water Park Perk. In the past, Disney has opened both Disney's Blizzard Beach and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon in the summer months for Guests to enjoy this free perk.

As we look forward to 2027, the free water park perk returns, but once again, this will only be offered for the summer. Disney has not shared specific dates for this perk.

There is a new exception for the free water park perk in 2027. This does not extend to guests staying at the Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.

It is important to note that this is only applicable for your arrival day. Plan ahead, as parks can reach capacity.
