The start of 2026 has been a bit rough for Walt Disney World. The last several days have seen a whole land close at Disney's Animal Kingdom and a new Disney CEO named.

On top of these changes, Walt Disney World prepared for a historic cold front. In order to prepare for this icy, arctic blast, Cast Members worked tirelessly to cover many plants and flower beds throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.

Unfortunately, this did create problems when sprinklers malfunctioned due to the cold temperatures. Disney now alerts Guests of plans to recover after damages from the cold front.

The National Weather Service issued an Extreme Cold Watch for all of Walt Disney World this past weekend. This caused Disney's Typhoon Lagoon to close January 31st through February 2, 2026.

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon reopened yesterday, February 3rd, and will be open today. However, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon will close starting tomorrow, February 5th, and on February 6th.

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon is expected to reopen on Saturday, February 7, 2026. This is quite disappointing, as next week is the final time to enjoy Disney's Typhoon Lagoon before refurbishment.

The bad news is that Disney's Typhoon Lagoon will be closed due to cold weather. The good news is that this cold front will not be as extreme as what Guests experienced last weekend.

Current forecasts predict a cold front moving in late tonight, February 4th, and continuing through Friday morning. Be sure to check out our cool weather tips HERE if you will be heading to the Parks this week.
