Breaking: Disney Names Josh D'Amaro Next CEO
Disney has decided who will be the next CEO, Josh D'Amaro. Find out what when he steps into his new role!
Bob Iger
Bob Iger returned as Disney CEO back in November 2022. Many were hopeful that many issues would be addressed with the return of Bob Iger.
At first, Iger signed a contract for two years. His return was expected to be short, but he wanted to stay around long enough to help the board "succeed at succession".
His contract was later extended and he agreed to continue as CEO through December 31, 2026. Iger is ready to retire…again but desires a smooth transition for the upcoming CEO.
Replacement to Be Named
PLast week, The Wall Street Journal reported that Bob Iger plans to step down before the end of his contract per anonymous sources. The WSJ shares that Iger is "frustrated" with "conflicts" at ABC over the Jimmy Kimmel suspension back in September.
The Disney Board has shared that a replacement would be announced in Early 2026.
Josh D'Amaro has remained a frontrunner for the CEO position for some time now. With multiple sources naming him the most likely choice to take over for Iger. Dana Walden has been reported as his top competition for the role.
Josh D'Amaro Named Next CEO
Josh D'Amaro has now been named the next CEO for The Walt Disney Company. This will be effective on March 18, 2026.
Bob Iger, current CEO of The Walt Disney Company, stated "Josh D'Amaro is an exceptional leader and the right person to become our next CEO."
Josh D'Amaro has been named Disney's next CEO and Dana Walden named President and Chief Creative Officer, both to take effect on March 18th!
Dana Walden has also been named President and Chief Creative Officer of The Walt Disney Company, this new role will also be effective on March 18th.
