NEW: Josh D’Amaro Moves Closer to Becoming Disney’s Next CEO
Disney's board is getting ready to vote on who the next CEO will be to replace Bob Iger. Find out what we know.
Bob Iger

Bob Iger returned as Disney CEO back in November 2022. Many were hopeful that many issues would be addressed with the return of Bob Iger.
At first, Iger signed a contract for two years. His return was expected to be short, but he wanted to stay around long enough to help the board "succeed at succession".
His contract was later extended and he agreed to continue as CEO through December 31, 2026. Iger is ready to retire…again but desires a smooth transition for the upcoming CEO.
Iger Could Step Down Early

Last week, The Wall Street Journal reported that Bob Iger plans to step down before the end of his contract per anonymous sources. The WSJ shares that Iger is "frustrated" with "conflicts" at ABC over the Jimmy Kimmel suspension back in September.
The Disney Board has shared that a replacement would be announced in Early 2026.
Josh D'Amaro Disney's Next CEO?

We also shared last week that the New York Times' Report had two sources close to the plans shared that the next CEO could be announced as early as this week. In the report, Josh D'Amarois still the frontrunner for the position.
Disney's board is expected to vote on the new CEO this week.
According to Bloomberg, Disney's board is "aligning on promoting theme-park divisions chairman Josh D'Amaro to the role of chief executive officer and will vote on naming a new leader in the coming week, according to people-familiar with the matter." This vote is expected to take place this coming week.
The board has not announced who the next CEO is and could still change their minds. Disney is scheduled to report Q1 earnings this morning before the market opens.
