Widespread Travel Warning for Disney World
Walt Disney World has withstood many travel warnings over the years, but this is a first in this decade. Find out how to best prepare for this new warning.
Disney World Weather Warning

Florida weather can put a few wrinkles in even the best-laid travel plans. What many do not often consider are cold weather warnings and winter weather advisories, but this month has been plagued with them.
The most recent Cold Weather Advisory was issued by the National Weather Service yesterday. This affects Orange County, Osceola County, and Seminole County, effective from 1:00 am to 9:00 am on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
Wind chills will make it feel like 27°. This will also affect operating hours at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon.
Disney World Cold Weather Forecast

Temperatures are expected to rise on Thursday and Friday, but then prepare for extremely cold weather this weekend. At this time, the National Weather Service forecasts that another cold front will develop this weekend.
According to meteorologists at WESH2, "By Sunday morning, temperatures may plunge into the mid to upper 20s across much of Central Florida, creating some of the coldest weather seen in a decade."
If this weather forecast continues, we expect further closures for Disney's Typhoon Lagoon this weekend and possibly heading into next week. Be prepared, this cooler weather could also impact airport travel.
Updated: Disney's Typhoon Lagoon is closed Saturday, January 31st; Sunday, February 1st; and Monday, February 2nd due to cold weather. Typhoon Lagoon is expected to reopen on Tuesday, February 3rd (operating hours subject to change).
Disney Cold Weather Travel Tips

If you will be visiting this weekend or when cooler weather is expected, we recommend prioritizing your Lightning Lane selections for attraction queues located outdoors. You may also need to create a realistic park plan. Some outdoor attractions could be temporarily closed due to cooler temps.
This Sunday, Central Florida may experience the coldest weather in a decade.
Pack cool-weather gear such as a heavy coat/gloves/hats/scarfs. My (Donna) family likes to rent a large locker (available at all Parks) to store cooler weather gear when the temperatures get a little warmer. This keeps our hands free, and then we can still access our cool-weather gear when the sun sets and the temperatures drop.

The most helpful thing I did was wear wool socks to keep my feet warm while standing on hard, cold surfaces.
I haven't tried that before, but that is a great tip. Thank you very much for sharing!
