Magic Kingdom Attraction Closes to Serve as a Storm Shelter

There are many things to consider when planning your trip to Walt Disney World. From rainstorms to hurricane planning, Florida weather can put a few wrinkles in even the best-laid travel plans.
With a park located in Central Florida, Walt Disney World tries to update guests on weather advisories as quickly as possible.
Florida has been hit pretty hard this year with record low temperatures in January, a fog advisory, and even major disruptions at the Orlando International Airport.
Disney World Weather Warning

Yesterday, a Flood Watch was issued for Coastal Volusia County, Orange County, Inland Volusia County, Northern Lake County, Seminole County, and Southern Lake County. This watch ended at 3:00 am this morning, but the inclement weather did not end there.
The National Weather Service in Melbourne issued a severe thunderstorm warning that included Walt Disney World Resort.
Walt Disney World has only closed for hurricanes on a few occasions over the years, and the parks remain open during many storms. Weather does, however, affect outdoor attractions, character meet and greets, and select entertainment.
Magic Kingdom Storm Shelter

Today, due to the threat of severe thunderstorms, the Hall of Presidents, located in Magic Kingdom, is no longer running the pre-programmed show. Instead, this building is open to guests to seek shelter from the storm.
A severe thunderstorm warning affects Walt Disney World this evening.
