Is Carousel of Progress Closing Soon?
It may not be a "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" for Magic Kingdom's Carousel of Progress. Find out what this may mean for this nostalgic attraction.
Carousel of Progress

The Carousel of Progress was one of the attractions that first debuted at the New York World Fair back in 1964.
The Carousel has seen some changes and updates over the years, but it is still very reminiscent of Walt Disney's original plan.
Last year, this attraction received a much-needed update with new seating, but now it seems that a major update will be needed soon for this attraction.
Carousel of Progress Closure

The Carousel of Progress consistently welcomed guests over the years without a few major closures, but it seems that a closure is imminent. Earlier, we heard rumors that a Carousel of Progress refurbishment was being discussed.
Now, thanks to cynical_disney, we have details of why this refurbishment is needed. According to this rumor, only "6 of the 9 motors of Carousel of Progress are running, with one of them breaking last week."
The motors are what literally keep the Carousel of Progress "rolling". Our Kenny the Pirate Crew joked that it seems that they may have blown a few too many fuses.
Tomorrowland Closures

This, of course, isn't an official announcement for a closure, but it sounds as though this attraction may need some extra work to keep it running.
Due to mechanical issues, Carousel of Progress may be closing soon for a big refurbishment
Just as a reminder Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland will have another big closure coming soon. Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin will close on August 4, 2025. The last day to ride it in its current state and earn Galactic Hero Status (for now) is August 3, 2025.
