Widespread Travel Warning for Disney World

New Security Creates Longer Lines at Disney World

Even the most magical place needs to protect its guests. Unfortunately, this new security protocol is creating huge lines and long wait times for guests.

Disney Parks are designed to allow guests to enjoy a land of wonder and leave the cares of this world behind for just a few hours or a few days. To help ensure guests feel safe, Disney continues to enhance its safety measures.

One of the best changes to Disney security is the Evolv scanners at all Walt Disney World park entrances.  These first debuted in 2020 and allow guests to simply walk through the scanner. Only select guests are asked to have their bags searched, rather than every single guest.

Many Disney fans are also aware of the increasing number of fights and altercations within the Disney Parks. Disney addressed this issue by adding a "Courtesy Reminder" for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland websites.

Evolv scanners are in use at each Theme Park entrance and at select entrances at Disney Springs. Previously, guests aboard Walt Disney World Resort buses did not have to pass through security scanners when arriving at Disney Springs.

To our understanding, K9 dogs were present at this entrance, but this was the only security measure until earlier this week. Now, when guests exit their Disney Resort bus, they must stand in line for a limited number of Evolv scanners.

Most Disney guests do not mind additional security screenings, but the current use of limited scanners is very frustrating for guests. It is unclear if this is simply a trial phase, and perhaps additional scanners will be added.

Traveling to Disney Springs

According to guests, lines have been 15-30 minutes just to enter Disney Springs. What is even more frustrating is that if you are simply traveling to Disney Springs to transfer to a bus heading towards Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon, you must also wait in this new security line.

Our best pirate tip is to pack your patience and plan to arrive at Disney Springs an hour ahead of time to account for traffic, and also this new security line.
